Interstellar
"don't you hear my call, though you're many years away? don't you hear me calling you? write your letters in the sand, for the day i take your hand, in the land that our grandchildren knew."
that was a line from a little queen song called '39 written by their guitarist, brian may (who has a phd in astrophysics), about quote-unquote "someone who goes away and leaves his family and because of the time dilation effect, when you go away, the people on earth have aged a lot more than he has when he comes home." sound familiar?
"for the earth is old and grey, little darling, we'll away; but my love, this cannot be! oh, so many years have gone, though i'm older but a year; your mother's eyes, from your eyes, cry to me."
ah, well. nolan still left me crying in the end so i can't really elaborate on the similarities, but there was one line at the end that went "for my life, still ahead, pity me" which left me to wonder: what happened to coop, knowing that he belonged to a generation score years past and had lost his penultimate tether to his past life?
(this is so random and niche i'm so sorry but it's the only thing on my mind right now)
