I had huge expectations for this movie and for the first 1h to 1h20min it was arguably one of the greatest horror and cinematic experience in general. I might be a bit biased due to my heavy horror and kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure fanatisme but to me every aspect was immaculately perfect from the narration to the way tension was built , the suspense, the atmosphere , the themes and metaphor used to express those themes and messages , and especially the visuals. It is genuinely still unbelievable how kiyoshi was able to capture the whole early 2000's VHS greyish cyber horror aesthetic in such a perfect way that to me this a visual cinematic reference.
So many mind-blowing sequences that are one of the greatest horror scenes I've ever seen.
Unfortunately towards the end the movie is heavily dragged and refuses to end and although the "descent towards psychosis and nightmare" structure of the movie started well at first it kind of gets ruined by how overly dragged the story feels towards the end.
It is very frustrating and disappointing how a movie you expected to love and loved even more during the first majority of it unfortunately doesn't get as great as you want to it to be.
