Dune
Dune is my fourth ranked Denis film. But that doesn't mean that this movie is bad, clearly, this means that Denis arguably the best working director today.
This is my first time watching Dune since its release in 2021 and I cannot believe I have not watched this more. I do believe this movie has it's flaws and it isn't for everybody which is cool. But there is something about this that caught my attention in 2021 and still has in today.
The main complaint people have with this film is that it is too much world building, and maybe that is a valid criticism, but this is some of the best world building I have ever seen. The world that they begin to build throughout this film is mesmerizing. What makes this so engaging for me is the attention to detail with every area of the film. Each character is fleshed out in a way that makes me care about them. Timmy is literally incredible. The shot selections and cinematography from Greg Fraiser is out of this world (no pun intended), creating one of the most visually beautiful films of the century. Hanz once again gives a glorious score. Denis is a master at work, and I love everything he does in this.
Like it is hard to find things wrong with this.. With that being said, we are only a couple weeks away from seeing something potentially better, and I have never been more excited for a film that Dune Part Two. Inject it into my vains.
