The Shining
“Wendy? I’m home, love. Come on, come out, where are you hiding? Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red Riding Hood. Come on, open the door. Come on, open it. Didn’t you hear my knock – knock – knock? Then you want me to blow, you want me to go poof. So I have to open the door? I’m the big bad wolf. ”Let's say something new about this splendid Shining, freely adapted from Stephen King's novel.
Too many things have been said, some shareable, others not!
With his unattainable "enlightened" vision, Stanley Kubrick, the great director, takes us on a journey inside ourselves, difficult especially when silence and solitude dominate, expanding the confrontation with the deep self beyond measure.
And here we return to Kubrick's magnificent cinematic strategy: all films remain rigorously "open", allowing the viewer to break into the film with a very personal reading........this is how the debate and the myth of a masterpiece are born.
the cinematic language of the master is always careful, studied, technical, intuitive, enigmatic, mysterious, esoteric.
The parapsychological vision of evil here becomes a fantastic, violent, schizophrenic, threatening thriller.
Jack Torrance (aka Jack Nicholson) writer, now the hotel's caretaker, feels the presence of evil that was, he feels these energies that reverberate and expand in the various environments; Jack quickly changes behavior, becomes conflicted with his wife Wendy and his son Danny; a homicidal madness also comes over him: is it just the madness of the man that grows in silence or are the negative influences of the hotel real?
The debate is open here too we are involved and invited to give our version.
Why do Wendy and Danny not feel negative influences?
Why is the particular path only Jack's?
Our answer is simple Jack and Stanley feel the evil of the world and absorb it, they do not know how to defend themselves, they become evil.
But there is hope Wendy and Danny, who here symbolize the good, have antibodies in them, that energetic component of negative polarity could win, but it will only be a single victory, thinks Kubrick, because evil serves as energy to counteract good... and elsewhere it will prevail... evil is part of man.
There remain many scenes, sounds, many engaging emotions and a Kubrick who digs deep into our self without fear.
A masterpiece, you don't vote, you admire.
