I was rooting for the xenomorph the whole time for what the prisoners tried to do to my ripley

I can’t even tell you why this movie is bad. There’s simply nothing particularly interesting about it, other than Ripley. We land on this weird Meninist prison camp, and Newt is IMMEDIATELY killed off for no reason. Like seriously no reason. The script writers must have just not wanted to deal with her. The Fincher of this movie is barely showing. There’s a couple slow pans that bear similarities with his later works, and he’s worked with a few of these actors since. Oh! And there are serial killers in this. I hope he did that. It is more a sequel to the first than the third but it dropped everything Ridley Scott taught us about not showing the monster. You get this weird stop motion alien half the time, it’s really jarring. Just boring. Not horrible, just uninteresting. I didn’t care.

It’s a far fall from grace compared to the two previous installments. First off, damn the CGI zenomorph looked horrendous. A lot of the writing and dialogue were pretty clunky and random but for me the biggest thing was killing off the characters from aliens. They did it in such an unceremonious and quick way it felt like it defeated the second installment. They could’ve killed them off, that’s not the problem though, it’s they did it so quick and with no sort of build up or emotional payout, it was total bullshit. On to the good though, I liked the feel of the film, it still has its dystopian cyber steampunk feel to it which I really do enjoy. I felt like it had some solid elements whe it can to horror and the practical effects were good as always, having it act more like an animal was cool too, gave us some insight on how it kind of takes the form of the original host. Now the ending, I liked the whole maze sequence, I thought it was cool but how they killed off the creature was rather ridiculous, the way it exploded was so goofy. Ripleys sacrifice could’ve been done a lot better as well, I didn’t feel any emotion when it happened, it really just kind of fell flat. Overall it’s a sad whimper compared to the juggernauts that came before it, I can’t say much besides I’m kind of just disappointed, I may watch again but don’t really have an urge to.
