While the first half slugs along at a strange pace, with awkward jokes and only the parts with *Sverrir Gudnason* are true standouts, the pacing in the second half picks up massively and delivers a truly hurtful experience. While the film oozes with *Mortensen's* painfully liberal politics and his performance and direction are probably the most unfortunately dull parts of the film, those don't really matter in the face of *Lance Henriksen's* suckerpunch of a performance and some really great scenes between the two as well as *Gabby Velis*.
