a total blind watch going into this trilogy by Michaela Durand and Daniel Chew. trying to make the best use of my time on the Criterion Channel and what better than to check out the younger filmmakers on their way to making it big?
hits a similar, deep sense of relatable melancholy as one of my all time favorite films about the internet, *We’re All Going to The World’s Fair. *this short experiment got to me in a deep place. the use of subtitles in this is genius, and i honestly couldn’t think of a better way to portray what it’s like to get those kind of messages throughout your day. some of those subtitles hit really hard.
at first i wasn’t sure what to think, but this is both very strong indie filmmaking and a very powerful little short about the internet era.
