A solid Fincher thriller!
LGBTQ icons Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart are trapped in a room while Forest Whitaker and Jared Leto AND DWIGHT YOAKAM (@lorena) try to break in. It’s claustrophobic, and Fincher’s weird CGI camera movements make this mostly single-house thriller much more intense.
Jared Leto is bad in this movie, I’m sorry. He’s overacting the whole time I was very glad when he was killed off. It was much more interesting with Forest Whitaker in charge. Whitaker is a big sweetheart, I love that guy. You always know he isn’t going to try to hurt anybody.
Fincher is a fabulous executor but his works are always only as strong as their writing. In this case, he directed a crowd pleasing thriller like high art, but the movie isn’t as deep as some of his other pieces. It’s still quite fun, and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a fun watch.
