Roy Cohn's Three Rules (Later embraced by trump):
Rule 1: attack, attack, attack
Rule 2: admit nothing, deny everything
Rules 3: No matter what happens, no matter what they say about you, no matter how beaten you are, you claim victory and never admit defeat.
I thought that I needed to watch this now. First of all, I am already sick and nauseous with a cold, and I doubt that, the way I feel, this could be made worse by watching this film. I do not know if I would be able to watch it in a few weeks.
But my bias is pretty strong, and I do not want to make my Letterboxd a political forum, so I am going to leave this movie unrated and keep my review short.
Sebastian Stan was nominated for the 2025 Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of donald trump in this film..and he did a good job. He was able to capture a desire for power and adulation, combined with a lack of moral compass--a bully with backing. I think that his performance was very good and even deserving of nomination, but not the win. Who knows? Maybe he will stay in character and claim himself winner despite everyone being able to watch the awards live or later on YouTube.
As good as Sebastian Stan was as trump, Jerry Strong was even better as Roy Cohen. I am very happy that he is being considered for Best Supporting Actor.
And, by the way, I was wrong, I feel worse, and I don't think it's the virus.
