I saw someone who uploaded a fight clip of this movie on twitter a few weeks back, I only saw like 5 seconds of the 2 minutes long clip and i was immediately sold to watch it. Ended up having it in my watchlist being unwatched for a couple of weeks instead.
Anyway I originally wanted it rated in 3 stars but i decided to give it 3½ stars because of the fight scene which I'll talk later. The biggest weakness of this movie is like the other reviewers had said, it's just too long. For a movie with a basic plot it sure does overstay its welcome, the middle part is just really boring as there's honestly nothing interesting in there and they could've cut lots of the scene in there to make it shorter (eg: when the prince decided to go to the shaolin library but was denied by the abbot, in that scene we got to see him walking for like 5 minutes straight no joke).
Also one thing that i want to point out is, who's the main character in this movie? No, really, in a movie like this there is usually a character who would stand out than the others to show that the character is not ordinary or anything (Iron Fisted Monk is one such example). You might say James tien is the lead but the guy was missing in the middle section which was the longest part of the movie also he was outshined by pretty much anybody in the final fight alone or is it the prince himself? That can't be, he's the villain! Honestly i do not know myself really. Yeah i know it's an ensemble cast, but still.
Anyway out of the negatives and the positives, honestly the only thing that i can point out is the fight scene which was all awesome! Especially after Casanova and Kwon Young started to show their skills, I was speechless when I saw them fighting the prince really (even though it was mostly Casanova doing the job). James tien is also pretty awesome in here, although a bit of a shame that he doesn't appear much and was mostly outshined by the others in here, that sword againts tonfa fight is awesome to watch though...
All in all, this could've been a 4/5 movie but the slow pacing of it just breaks the immersion really, I'm not surprised if someone actually had to shut it down midway through because of the poor pacing.
