Sharon Spitz is out here trying to survive adolescence while her braces apparently have more plot relevance than half the supporting cast. 🦷💅📺
The appeal is that the show understands the uniquely humiliating hellscape of being a teenager: crushes, friendships, popularity, parents embarrassing you, school bullshit, and the eternal question of “why the fuck is everyone looking at me?” It doesn't always handle those ideas with subtlety—some plots practically arrive wearing a neon sign saying LESSON OF THE WEEK—and the supporting characters can slip into sitcom stereotypes pretty damn quickly.
Still, there's something genuinely endearing about its messiness. Sharon isn't presented as some flawless teenage heroine; she's insecure, occasionally petty, makes dumb decisions, and then has to live with them. The animation is basic, the humor can be corny, and some storylines have aged like milk left in a hot locker—but the early-2000s tween atmosphere is immaculate. A little awkward, a little dated, occasionally annoying… basically, teenagehood. 🫠🎒✨
