Escaping that vicious cycle as a young mother makes her an absolute warrior. Yeah, she relapsed, but breaking free when you've been in it since you were a teenager is so damn hard. Between the ex and the mother (who is a whole other story...), poor Alex is surrounded by absolute trainwrecks.
