I realized some time ago that *The Heirs* was my first K-drama watch (I think around 2019 because I saw the first ep playing in my parents' room and went to watch it myself on YouTube).
I started getting into K-dramas last year after my sister forced me to watch True Beauty and I was obsessedddd. After watching *The Heirs*, I realized it was probably the blueprint for *True Beauty*, so much similarities, just different decades and conflicts/back stories presented through different forms. The world is divided into two lanes again, which made me realize *Twilight* was the blueprint for love triangles in film. I'm team Kim Tan, Lee Su-ho, and Edward ofc 😂 First male leads are for me >>>
I also love them for making Cha Eun-Sang a horror lover, the amount of *Scream* references??? hellosidney96, "Hello Sidney" x2. Unfortunately I hadn't caught on to this when I was younger because my horror phase occurred around 2022 (I used to be so afraid of them lmao). Perfect for me now tho because *Scream* is my fav as well 🤭🔪 *Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th. *It would've been real funny if they had a scene watching horror together and Kim Tan gets scared or something, but I guess that happened in *True Beauty *instead*.* Similarly, Lim Ju-Kyung also loves horror & heavy metal music, def a reference to this series...
I only realized watching it now how much you can really learn about running a business / how the business world works through Jeguk Group's drama here. Also the way K-dramas used to have more episodes; 20 episodes really made it enough for them to build up the story. I liked how they placed the first 4 eps focusing on the USA meet-cute, although Kim Tan basically fell in love after only a day lmao 😭 but ig that's how dramatic it can be for teenage love? Lol. But yea ig the episode count is smth I wish stayed till modern K-dramas, they mostly end abruptly, or part of the story structure doesn't seem enough.
Recently read that this K-drama also influenced the Hallyu wave and Korean economy. Not surprised though, this would be so expensive to do now since they're mostly A-list actors.
