> *"It's amazing, isn't it. The power of belief"*
Usotoki Rhetoric is one of the best Japanese dramas out there. Kanoko and Souma's relationship and experiences in each episode will tell you something new about people and the nature of lies.
There are various reasons for why people lie. This drama encapsulates that lying is neither black nor white, people lie sometimes to protect and not to deceive. Lies are a defensive weapon but also defying. We can see that in some of the episodes.
Kanoko is a perfect representation of someone who isn't afraid to call you out on your wrongdoings, but is also empathetic on why people do such actions. Detective Souma, on the other hand, find these reasons for people and judges them accordingly. Rhetorically speaking, they are there to believe. Believe that lies are there to serve and lead to the ultimate truth.
