Anora
i waited 8 months to get this on criterion and i decided not to rewatch this until i got the criterion and guess what. i FINALLY fucking got it and now i've rewatched it and it's way better than i remembered oh my fucking god. i remember the ending being amazing but after watching this a second time i can feel the emotion in everyone's performance especially mikey maddison as ani and the actor that played igor (i can't spell his name). that ending actually is top 2 endings ever, every single thing she said, every emotion she felt, every bit of anger, every single ounce of anger, all of it lead up to that amazing ending and mikey maddison performed fucking beautiful and deserve that oscar by a fucking mile, i can't wait too see more movies with her in it, she's a fantastic actress. sean baker absolutely cooked when making this movie and deserved every oscar he got aswell. i think the oscar's are lowk a bit rigged and i do rarely agree with them but this is 100% one of the rare times i agree with what they chose. i think this movie is very misunderstood particularly with igors character. like he's an amazingly written character because u can have 2 arguments towards him being a bad or good person for ani and i think if u can do that, u made a truly amazing character and it's not even the best way character here. ani by FAR is one of the best written female protagonists in fiction let alone film. the layers in her character are so thick and u see all of it in the space of 2 hours and 15 minutes, her 2 very different behaviours, very sweet and nice towards her clients and then very aggresive and roudy towards the russian men and sometimes even her roommate) she is a fantastic character. the soundtrack in this is so underrated btw, i love nearly every song played in this movie it's fantastic how sean baker was able to make such a fantastic soundtrack and make it fit in to this movie with so many different genres (romance, comedy, drama,) it just works so well. i love the colours in this movie so fucking much and how vibrant they are, but as the movie goes on and how anis feelings start to get more and more deeper the colours themself begin to fade, as to where the start of the movie is very colourful, near the end it just very white and baby blue. beautiful.
amazing movie
