Blue Spring
"People who know what they want scare me."
i didn't realise how fucking amazing this was on my first watch, for some reason i just thought this was ur average school movie and on some standards it is sure, but this is so special. i want this movies energy injected into my soul, this movie is so electric and intensifying yet it's so somber and powerful. the fact that toshiaki toyoda was able to put such powerful emotions and characters into this short movie is wild, there's so much characters here that are explored amazingly and it's fantastic. the main 2 characters, kujo and aoki have such depth to their friendship and u can genuinely feel how much they care for eachother (as friends) throughout the movie despite the latter half of this where aoki just fucking changes. i love this movie so fucking much and i can't believe i didn't even get this movie when i first watched it. the themes of alienation, change, angst and toxic masculinity are explored so beautifully in this intoxicating view of teenage school life. the soundtrack in this movie is one of the best soundtracks in any movie i've watched, i love this so much and it's definitely in my top 3 movie soundtracks ever. the acting in this is great, no idea why the fuck i said it was mid in my last review but the acting here is actually so good. normally these type of movies about school alienation are like all girls school, so it's different to see one in an all boys school and the fact that imo it's done so well aswell. it's incredible how beautiful this movie is. so much fantastic shots, the shot of kujo playing football while the camera is moving very quickly as aoki is just bullying everyone in the school is such a cool shot. the shot of aoki standing on the roof as time passes by is also just a stunning shot. the ending of this movie is so dark yet so realistic in terms of the message it's trying to give and i believe this should genuinely be shown at all schools.
amazing movie
