"hope is a dangerous thing."
I watched this in my year 10 history class. how dare they make me watch this. how dare you put me through this. I understand that we're learning about WWI, but this was absolutely devastating.
"tell her I wasn't scared."
this is such a devastatingly, tragic yet beautiful movie. the way it was filmed is absolutely genius, the whole long takes and the careful movements of the camera genuinely mad this movie, the way the camera just goes along with his movements, this movie was filmed perfectly, if it was filmed any other way I don't think it would've possessed the ability to be as captivating and emotional as it was.
although the movie was not made in one continuous tape, it genuinely looks like it was—such a genius and beautiful film.
*"where are the others?"
"others? no. just me. no. only me."*
this is such an artistic film, it felt like looking at a beautiful, emotive and captivating painting—it was so beautiful to watch, I don't think I have the correct words to even express how beautiful this movie is.
the way the movie ended with him leaning against the tree, almost as if a homage to the start of the movie, except he was alone.
"age before beauty."
