Before Midnight
Even better on rewatch. This trilogy truly transcends filmmaking and this watch again solidified it as my favorite piece of fiction/media of all time.
This is definitely the most challenging movie of the first three, which I guess is what makes it the lowest rated but I feel like that also makes it an argument for best of the trilogy. It’s definitely the most emotional of the three. Both of its predecessors had a seemingly perfect ending, but the last 20 minutes of this film…damn. A movie has never made me feel the way this one does when certain lines are delivered.
This is the greatest dialogue put to film. Linklater captures an authenticity, beauty, and even melancholy that is beyond words. I mean I don’t wanna overhype but this trilogy is more moving than you could think possible for about 5 hours of two people having conversations. These movies are why I hate small talk.
I’m lowkey glazing but yeah brilliant movie, a perfect trilogy, and peak cinema.
I was also rambling on and on to my mom after finishing these with her and I could tell she wanted to kill me in that moment but I think she appreciates it
