The best way I could've opened up my birthday is just watching a Park Chan-Wook movie, and by God will he always be my favorite director. This movie is still so damn good, even knowing the twist and it's because of this: a bad distrubung movie only exists for shock value, a good one proves it's worth. I didn't really appreciate just how good this movie was when I first saw it, and now I love it even more. I think I prefer Handmaiden over it, but that shouldn't discredit it and I'll still love this and No Other Choice. As always, watch foreign films: they're worth the time.
