Megalopolis
An unbelievable motion picture that I can’t believe is real. A life’s work of perfecting the art of how to a shoot a movie wrapped up in one film. As far as I’m concerned aspiring directors should study the technical aspects of the camera work here for years.
The plot is a complete and jumbled mess of ideas and themes, and it totally works. They intertwine incoherently in spots, some are very well developed, some get mentioned briefly and then are never talked about again, but it’s all intentional. In the very least it’s very effective in getting you to think about what you are watching on the screen. “Huh, that piece of dialogue was weird, why was that included?”. Now that may not work for you (If a thing you look for in movies is a coherent narrative you’ll despise this film), but I do find the common criticism of saying “makes no sense” and then giving it 1/2 star is pretty weak stuff.
