Phantom Thread
“Sometimes I jump ahead in our life together, and I see a time near the end. I can predict the future, and everything is settled. And all our lovers and children and friends come back and are welcome. And we have large gatherings where everyone is laughing and playing games. I am older and I see things differently, and I finally understand you. I take care of your dresses, keeping them from dust and ghosts and time.”
“Yes, but right now we're here.”
“Yes, of course we are.”
“And I'm getting hungry.”
That was so incredible. This is definitely my favorite one of PTA’s movies. It’s such a different outing from him, much more calm and collected than all of his other films. Daniel Day Lewis and Vicky Krieps are both phenomenal playing this very odd couple that somehow cannot be separated. It is visually stunning and the Greenwood score is great. The costumes are also beautiful, and the movie wouldn’t work otherwise. The film really gets you interested in the out of wack life of this established dressmaker and makes you wonder how Alma can fit into it. It shows the couples highest and lowest points and how they are always able to bounce back. A truly beautiful film and one that will stay with me for awhile
