Before Sunset

[The BEFORE Trilogy Marathon at Belcourt Theatre] * “Baby, you are gonna miss that plane.”* “I know.” ‘Before Sunset’ is one of the more unique films I have ever watched. And it’s so unique, that’s what makes it so good. For a trilogy where all films are fairly similar, this one stands out among the three films. Although every film in this trilogy are set for just a day, the structure of this one was unlike anything I’ve seen before. Linklater takes us through a conversation like the other films, but this one doesn’t really have time cuts. We’re watching the conversation play out in real time. A 1 hour, 20 minute conversation between these two characters and Linklater gives us so much throughout just a conversation, it’s happy, it’s funny, it really is just such a fun watch.
