*“Yes, I killed him. I killed him for money - and a woman - and I didn't get the money and I didn't get the woman. Pretty, isn't it?” Double Indemnity *is THE film noir film. This film checks all the boxes for what makes a noir film, a noir film, and it does it to perfection. Billy Wilder is not only one of the greatest directors of all time, but also one of the greatest screenwriters of all time, and I’d be willing to say he takes the top spot when it comes to screenwriting and it shines throughout this movie. Every scene I was blown away by how great the screenwriting is and it helps to have Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, and especially Edward G. Robinson deliver these lines so smooth and makes it feel even more real. An amazing story, beautiful shots, great music and incredible acting makes this one of, if not the greatest film noir film of all time. Soundtrack: 8.7/10
