Knives Out

*SPOILERS* “I think this could be the best thing to happen to all of you” This is actually my first time ever watching Knives Out! I tried watching it a few months ago but fell asleep. But man after watching it, this movie is absolutely incredible! I love the idea of showing the murder within the first 30 minutes of the film. Just to see and know what happens really makes the reactions of the Thrombey’s that much better. I absolutely adore a lot of the scenes in this film. But the scene that absolutely made this movie amazing was the will reading. The outrage of the Thrombey family really shows that Harlan made the right decision of giving his inheritance to Marta. The string music in the scene is so well done by composer Nathan Johnson. Lastly, when Marta leaves and the camera changes to a hand held camera, it really shows the confusion from Marta. I love that choice from director Rian Johnson. The ending was so well done! I love that all of the dialogue leads up to what transpires in the ending. For example, when Harlan and Marta play Go, Harlan tells Marta that Ransom couldn’t tell a prop knife from a real knife. In the end, Ransom attacks Marta with a knife, not realizing that it’s a prop knife. Just great writing from Rian Johnson. Everything in this movie is amazing! The acting, specifically from Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas. The music, done by Nathan Johnson has easily become one of my favorite movie soundtracks. The choice of strings and percussion really completes the whole film. Lastly, I have to appreciate Rian Johnson. Not only his directing, but his writing for this movie is amazing! Soundtrack: 9.7/10
