Backrooms
Haven't gone to a movie theater by my own since 2023 so I thought that I might as well do so again for the special occasion. I lowkey just wanted a immersive backrooms experience.
... yeah i came out of the film feeling a bit mixed. lots of pros here though so id say i felt mostly positive.
Firstly.. brilliant production design, feels hella claustrophobic. Kane Parsons directs the hell out of this with so much visual flair. Acting is also strong and i really liked the characters. The twist in that climax with them was insane.
That being said, i think it sadly really takes its time to be thrilling and scary. The first half of movie while good, is still really repetitive... it should've been trimmed down and the mystery aspect falls flat because of that. (the opening sequence was fantastic though).
Also that ending??? like bruh??
Honestly this woulda probably been a 7/10 for me if it weren't for that bumass ending. I wont spoil it but I was really REALLY getting invested only for it to end the way it does.
edit: after some thought, i think there's a lot to love here so ill bump my score up to a 7. i still hate that ending though.
