Coraline
It's been over a decade since I first watched this and it's still so damn scary. Astonishing how this so-called 'kids movie' is scarier than most horror movies.
Like i'm sorry but THE DESIGN OF THE BELDAM? Who in their right mind thought that it would be ok to show that to kids 😭 , I was traumatised by her when I was younger.
Seriously though, the direction in this movie is phenomenal and I can't get enough of it. All of the subtle details and foreshadowing in the art alone should've warranted this a best director nomination. I can't get enough of the lore too and it feels like theories on this movie will simply never end. What a masterpiece, I'll always revisit this one.
Also fun fact, I bought myself a $400 portable projector for my bedroom a few days ago and this was actually the first movie that I decided to watch on it. And WOW was this a legendary purchase.
Using the projector, I watched this on my ceiling in bed at 12am and it was so immersive that it felt like I was at the movies. I cannot wait to rewatch some more of my favourite movies on it in the coming months. Expect a lot of rewatches in my diary on here lol.
