The Lighthouse

I could watch this 50 times ngl. Every rewatch it becomes almost more mysterious. More questions get presented to me everytime I watch it. I also am in love with Pattinson and Dafoe here because they both make this movie what it is and make it believable. And can I talk about how beautiful this film is please. I keep staring at this shot of the pitch black ocean with a string of light and it’s fucking beautiful. I also love that Pattinson drowns in his own guilt in a literal way. But also his guilt keeps pecking at him and fucking with him until he kills it (the pigeon). But once he tries to kill it, it takes over not only in a new body but in an even deeper sense in Dafoe’s character. Pretty much just a visual storytelling masterpiece combined with peak dialogue and peak acting. Again the mystery absolutely makes this film.
