AFF32 Day 3 Film 5 The Academy might as was just give Jessie Buckley the award for Best Actress because fucking hell she carried so hard. Don't get me wrong, everyone here is fantastic, even the child performers, but Buckley's Anges was very much the heart of this film. The story, while somewhat condensed is extraordinary well-crafted and perfectly paced and beautiful look at loss and grief and the power of art emerging from personal sorrow. The cinematography and set designs are beautiful. Zhao's direction is impeccable. This is the first film in the fest to make me cry. 5/5.
