Tangerine

Raw and beautiful depiction of L.A. and the intersection of an unlikely group of people's lives. Watched as a part of an assessment that I chose to do about mobile filmmaking and I think the iPhone footage really serves this film amazingly. There's a natural grittiness and jank to the iPhone 5S' image but Sean Baker and Radium Cheung draw some absolutely incredible images through the phone with the Filmic Pro app and minimal accessories compared to a High Flying Bird or Unsane. Gonna be one of my favourites for a while. Just blistering with its pace and amazingly raw with its storytelling. Sean Baker is special.
