Sonny Boy
Sonny Boy feels like a puzzle that you can only solved with closed eyes, like the last two episodes of the original run of Neon Genesis Evangelion stretched out into a whole series combined with the premise of Lord of the flies, with a supernatural tilt to it.
I find myself searching for a more concrete, a more fitting way to describe this anime, but it seems to be an impossible task.
And that’s part of Sonny Boy‘s beauty I think. It doesn’t exist to be fully understood, it exists to be felt, it doesn’t aim to answer questions but to pose them; through breathtaking surrealist imagery, a catching soundtrack and messy character relationships that get tested through the absurdest of ways and insinuations.
