Poor Things
Every minute better than the last. Beyond its fascinating image and sound, is an exploration of autonomy and consciousness, both self and class. Corruption of spirit and sexual nature, a thirsting and a disgust of adolescence. The kind of movie to make you a nihilist and then call you broken for it. Yes, the “naive soul making sense of the world” trope is definitely a bit played but is so often told through a paternalistic and cruel lens found in many sci-fi classics. This is brimming with empathy and apathy and tragedy and grace. Philosophical exploration only made distant by its hyper-rationality, this movie fucking rocks.
Also this is what happens when we allow women to read 😡
