Hamnet takes its time to win you over. At first I kept wondering when something would finally happen, as the film slowly introduces its characters and world. Cut to the end: I’m sitting in the cinema with tears running down my face while On the Nature of Daylight delivers the final blow. Somewhere along the way the film must have done everything right and it really did. The acting is so real and heartfelt that I believed every single emotion. Jessie Buckley has to win the Oscar. No question!
