Absolutely gut-wrenching, Possession left me stunned like no movie ever. It’s a harrowing descent into madness, grief, and obsession, rendered almost unbearable by the intensity of its emotions. In the middle of a divided country that reflects the own state of the couple, the movie illustrate divorces and breakups in all of their glorious violence. Isabelle Adjani delivers one of the most astonishing performances ever captured on film: raw, terrifying, and utterly mesmerizing. I truly am at loss for words.
