did the FBI and capitalism work together to destroy a revolutionary social movement by getting them addicted to drugs? or was there never anything deeper to the hippies than a desire for easy access to consumerist convenience? why did the boomer movement collapse so easily into reaganism? why did that girlfriend with whom everything seemed groovy leave for a rich married man? there’s no real answer, except maybe that’s just the way things inherently are
