And just for a few hours, we was free.” Owning this film in 4K is nothing short of a fucking delight - I spoiled the fact that the aspect ratio does in fact shift like it did in theaters and I still got fucking chills. Seriously magical. Remmick will undoubtedly remain one of horror’s best ‘antagonists’ for a long while - I say ‘antagonist’ because there is an argument that he genuinely believes he is saving people from complete death and he does crave community, however it does come at the cost of sacrificing your humanity. I hope this film wins at least Best Original Screenplay, I’d be happy if it won any of its nominations but this story is so unique despite being a vampire film, it just feels different in the best way possible - Ryan Coogler, keep making films.
