Bullet Train
this was just a seriously good time. i mean, that first hour has to go down as the precedent for action movies going forward. i feel like this is exactly what i expected elvis to be. showbiz vibes to the roof but in a modernised curt way that doesn’t just emblazon every detail into your optic nerve. icl, i had this and train dreams downloaded (as a budding cinephile, i obv watched both) but i was just too tempted by the prospect of this rewatch, instead of trying to really marvel at the great american landscape 3000 feet in the air. ibr i was disappointed by leitch and his filmography bc i so desperately wanted more of this type of movie. haven’t seen much publicity on how to rob a bank yet but hopefully it’s another attempt to stake his claim of prestige in the action world. now this movie can’t be talked about without its flaws, most notably not knowing when to end and how much is too much, but that could be some of the appeal. i paused it after all passengers had left the train thinking this was the wrap up, but was pleasantly surprised to find another 45 mins of plot left. not something that would normally happen and granted it drags on, but i still found that amusing. also what even was the casting director on? they pulled out cookery that it’d give a wes movie a run for its money. all around just a really great and captivating experience.
