Phantom Thread
Elite film right here.
Amazing score. Classic PTA direction. Brilliant performances from DDL & Vicky Krieps. What I love so much about this film is similar to what I loved about portrait of a lady on fire: the use of lingering shots, both close & far, to force us to hunt for key pieces of information. Doing so in a way that doesn’t make it easy for the audience to see the answer. This combined with the other elements mentioned above made for a film that yanked me into the twisted dynamic between two differently disturbed individuals.
Loved every second of this movie. There are two scenes in particular, one in the middle and one in the end, that blew me away in their execution; from a performance & storytelling perspective respectively. I could watch this several times over. Bravo right here.
