Cure

This is one of those stories that couldn’t be told by anyone else; if it were, it would be a disservice. Though I’ve only seen one other Kiyoshi Kurosawa film, this is utter genius. Cure blew my mind, and I can’t wait to watch it again. This is definitely a film that will get better and better with each rewatch. I think this is probably my favorite screenplay I’ve seen. Every scene progresses the story, raises tension, and makes you ask more questions. I also love the screenplay’s willingness to allow scenes to breathe and let shots linger in empty spaces. It creates an atmosphere that is incredibly unsettling and interesting. I don’t even know what to say—if you haven’t seen it, go watch it. Insane film.
