Cure
I can’t stop thinking about this film. Cure demands your attention from the very beginning and never lets go.
This might be one of the coolest films I’ve ever seen. The set design is incredibly thoughtful and complements every shot, and I absolutely love how this film looks. The performances from Koji Yakusho and Masato Hagiwara are raw and powerful. Every aspect of this film feels carefully considered and executed to perfection.
Why didn’t I give this a 5 the first time around? I think it’s because the film left me a little in the dark. I was definitely confused—I didn’t understand that Fumie had been killed by Takabe, or that the psychological contagion was being passed from person to person.
Wow. Like I said in my last review, if you haven’t seen this, what are you doing? Get on it.
Underrated Gem.
