Bring Her Back
“Grapefruit.” </3
It’s been almost an hour since I left my showing of BRING HER BACK *and I am still ridiculed with a gut-wrenching discomfort throughout my entire body. Going into this film blind (no pun intended) really threw me off, but in the best way possible. I only watched the teaser trailer when it first released just to get the general essence **of what was to come from the Philippou Brothers, and my god.. this was pure derangement. Being a big fan of their directorial debut, TALK TO ME*, I knew I was ready to be blown away with what they had up their sleeves.. but wasn’t prepared for the level they took it to with this one. It was brutal, repulsive, and overly distressing to say the least. Hauntingly good performances, painfully grotesque practical effects, and a plot that keeps audiences on their toes the entire time. It was also beautiful in a weird, emotionally destructive way that stuck with me heavily. I went into this not expecting to cry but I did quite a bit. It really is the whole package **when it comes to the modernized horror genre in this day and age. I seriously can’t wait to see what these twins have for us next.
