Frankenstein
“Say my name like you did, back when it meant the world to you.”
Tonight I had the pleasure of getting to watch Guillermo Del Toro’s *iteration of the beloved classic **known as “Frankenstein.” Honestly I don’t even know how to fully comprehend all of my thoughts, feelings, and words I have when it comes to this film. I quite literally feel the opposite of empty and have since my screening came to an end. And I am genuinely saddened that not everyone is getting the chance to witness this in their local theatre. Firstly, this film is visually striking. The overall design within the set pieces and costumes are so delicately crafted and everything just looks so beautiful. Secondly, the writing is nearly immaculate. Every single line spoken made me feel some sort of way that I just can’t explain. It’s genuinely weird how compelling it was to me. And lastly, those performances were everything. Legit every single one. But holy shit. Jacob Elordi *playing a humanized monster on the big screen was truly something else and definitely my favourite of its entirety. There is more to say regarding the complexity and beautifully tragic **narrative, but I am going to leave it at that. Go see this on the big screen if you can!
