Brokeback Mountain
“The truth is, sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it.”
So utterly distraught I can’t breathe. So beautiful, so amazing, so heart wrenching. There’s so much confusion and heartbreak that it leaves you with so much to comprehend and grieve. A great piece on self destruction and how that ultimately can affect years upon years of your life that you’ll never get back.
I’ve never been an Ang Lee fan per se. Only seen one film and that was “Hulk (2003)” but that barely counts as it was more than 10 years ago. Anyways, he gives this movie so much life with his utterly breathtaking directing style. Rodrigo Prieto does a fantastic job with the cinematography even if his modern works have been mixed in my opinion. He allows everything to be seen with so much color and fluidity that you could stare at it for hours.
Finally I want to get to my favorite parts which were Ennis (Heath Ledger) and Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal). They’re so utterly good at their parts to where they’ll have to close to sobbing. They mix the disappointment with the tragic in a beautiful blend along with the rest of their co stars which bring the film together so well. They bring these characters to life so well and they feel authentic to the point where it hurts. Such a beautiful and dedicated piece of cinema.
