Alien
One thing I absolutely adore about this film is how quiet it is. Moments where there is just zero dialogue and almost no other sound. It helps to create that eerie environment and unnerve.
Ripley is such a great character, and there is obviously a lot to talk on the subject of this being a benefits film and it being created as a haunting depiction of the female experience of rape and sexual assault from a man and instead forcing the men to be the ones to suffer. Even in the way that the Alien itself is designed. Something g that forces its way in and then leaves something that forces its way out. Lots of very interesting layers to look through in this film.
The Alien and all the other effects in this film still are amazing. Ash’s robot reveal, the chest buster, all of the effects still live up and wouldn’t be out of place in a film made today. Helps show that sometimes something practical really is the best way.
