Avengers: Infinity War
not really much to say about this movie, that hasn't already been said. it's amazing. it's the best MCU film, no doubt. it's fantastic. it's so impressive. god, that third act and ending are stellar.
the weakest part of this movie is that it sometimes doesn't look super great, but it is shot like a masterpiece compared to the current state of the MCU. we didn't know how lucky we had it (yes we did). the story can feel the tiniest bit thin at times, and the style of humor has been a little bit soured, due to the current oversaturation of it, but other than that, pretty much everything else is fucking awesome.
bringing together 20sum+ characters and almost 20 movies, spanning across a decade, there is no reason this movie should work as well it does. the film utilizes incredible pacing and editing, as well as differentiating color pallets, to successfully juggle so many ongoing storylines, in a way that feels amazingly seamless. unrelated characters meeting for the first time, not only results in a fan's wet dream, but also allows for natural exposition, to aid viewers who haven't seen every second of the MCU.
after so many weightless antagonists in recent MCU outings, it is so refreshing to feel the scale of a villain like Thanos, who is, arguably, the protagonist of the film. retcons be damned, it is so effective to really feel like this plan has been going on behind the scenes of the previous 20 MCU movies. all the group dynamics are perfect. nothing feels like strictly fan-service. I don't know if this movie will ever be replicated.
as I said, not much to say about this movie, that already hasn't been said. it's so great. so fun. so crazy. I wish I could watch it for the first time again. best MCU movie
