Avatar
All films have a relative sense of duality. From the blue to the gray, in story and picture, this post-'Aliens' science fiction romance epic is grounded in reality, through the transcendental use of an avatar. All energy is borrowed, a weighty, grand, POV adventure into a species, a new worldview of perceiving life. The drama and emotion are immaculate. I just watched this on my TV with headphones on. Jake is just a good human doing his best. A more simple, relatable, less-good "Apocalypse Now."
"'I was born to do this.'" All films set rules up to then break them down. The contrast, the parallel storytelling, the bravery to hold the best flying moments—an all-time classic. Peak blockbuster immersion. A full use of the medium of cinema and editing. You just get to live in the world. The trees and their ecosystem are the wireless network that you can connect through with Eywa, think, and fly into parallel, paraplegic, powerful Pandora. The introduction and induction to the tribe are so moving.
A PS4 game shot like a Hollywood movie, that feels like character-led play, written like a hippie science fiction extravaganza for everyone. A visually and heartfully strong visual explosion of life. I must admit, though, on like my tenth rewatch, I could not finish this. 9.2/10.
