Sunshine
A major triumph for Philippine cinema.
Antoinette Jadaone just gets it. You have those who preach God, yet fail in exhibiting compassion. You have those who can’t help but conform to societal norms.
The movie understands how taboo abortion is in the Philippines, and I really liked how Manila, in its realest self, was portrayed. The sound mixing also elevates the film to greater heights.
Maris Racal is a revelation. Jennica Garcia also stands out.
I really liked how most of the women here were very compassionate to each other. When faced with men who can’t act like men, you can really only rely on women tbh. Jadaone gets it.
The film portrays a very pressing matter with such careful handling, I am convinced it’s going to succeed in starting a conversation that must be had.
Very, very important movie. Congratulations to everyone involved!
