TÁR

A cold masterpiece that I could see becoming one of my favorite movies. Fantastic acting from all three women, meticulous directing, and a screenplay that’s just so intelligent!  I’ve witnessed and participated in cancel culture and this just wonderfully explores the fascinating concept of that culture. I’m stunned by how Tar was cancelled with so little effort and how it took just one little thing to get everyone to exclude Tar like that when just in the very last week, Tar was participating in the culture with the same people who ostracized her.  Terrifying stuff. That aside, I really love this movie. It’s a product of its time and yet it’s still timeless, most especially in its portrayal of how it would take just one person to get everyone speak up. This is the defining film of 2022, alongside EEAAO, and as early as now, I’m calling Tar one of the defining films of the decade.
