“I’m really sorry.” “Oh no it’s alright” one of the most unique movies i’ve ever experienced. the PERFECT example of a psychological thriller. a disturbing realistic portrayal of the patriarchy that ends in a way you can not predict at all… i imagine watching it for the second time helps you process the purpose of this movie easier, but i’m not putting myself through that again… for a movie in 1997 you would be hopeful enough that things will change in 2026, but unfortunately things are still the same. this film highlights how much power men have in media. from producers, directors, photographers, actors, and even as an audience… each play a crucial role over women’s success as we see with the fictional character mima and her manager rumi. mima is put in a position where in order for her to successfully transition from her previous career into her dream one she has to do something extremely disgusting… i won’t lie i came in knowing it was going to be heavy, but i didn’t expect to lower the audio.. there’s a really hard watch in here for the purpose to show that these dreams she wants are made like this because men set the stage. in a course i took last winter in U.S history through the lens of civil rights activists, elizabeth cady stanton says it best that our religion, laws, and customs, are all founded on the belief that woman was made for man. with this in mind we can understand how this is normalized in society, and why mima does what she does, and why rumi reacted that way everyone in the filming sets knows what they are doing is wrong and sick. that’s why i think that quote i put in the beginning hits so hard with me, since no one decides to step foot or put a stop to what’s going on. we can apologize all we want, but it means nothing if your not trying to pursue change. what they are doing is not to spreading awareness, instead it fills these sick fantasies that men see as profit… we see the clear damage it does to mima, and even the audience the audience who once saw their sweet innocent idol participate in such a disturbing film, leads to them feeling betrayed and blaming her instead of the people who put her through it… she is now despised and dehumanized by so many to where she questions her decisions of going back to her previous career. no one is on her side, and she’s anxious about her previous dans now.. and as sad it sounds she ends up achieving her goals but had to suffer through so much there’s one obvious elephant in the room that im not addressing but for your sake the day you watch it, you can be surprised yourself… and it feels rude to refer to it as a elephant because it just speaks further of these set expectations and holding onto something that isn’t yours anymore. other than the message… as an older animated film, it aged really well. i miss this art style, and the transitions from one moment to another is both mind blowing and beautiful. the repeated sound track after every moment where we are in a state of confusion, or fear settles in so well and makes it clear that this is without a doubt of horror movie. be prepared to say what the fuck did i just watch at the end, and it’s important for you to think while the banger end credit song plays❤️🩹 she is without a doubt the real one

"And from here on out, I'm not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I've already felt." wow i wish i saw this earlier, but maybe it's a good thing i watched it now all grown up, but also not too grown up because i'd feel like it would haunt me comparing myself to theodore.. i can not be down bad like him when i get older.. because i already feel behind in terms of finding someone who loves me the way i love them that sense of peace, trust, and giddiness is so rare that when it finally happens you want to experience everything with them. like show them your favorite place, learn the things they love doing, do things you would never do alone like running around in public spaces laughing hysterically like it's just you two in a room alone, and wanting to know how they are doing at every moment even if they are stuck in one place this movie portrays every feeling and nature of love so well, the entire beach sequence with theodore and samantha... you just have to see for yourself i never had wanted to go to the beach so badly with someone i love to people watch, sunset watch, laying down on the sand smiling at each other, and just talk about whatever from seeing a cute edit on tiktok about this movie, into now watching it i feel so manipulated, but maybe that was the purpose of the tiktok.. i get a weird ick when i hear a movie is about ai, it's really cliche but this isnt a story about ai taking over people's minds where they do inhumane things. i also really like how it's not a futuristic city, and i love the color in this movie oh my god i can not exaggerate how good it feels to see bright colors in a world that is so grey instead we follow a man who's experienced ALL forms of love including heartbreak such as a divorce, but once he met someone so full of life he cant stop himself but be in love with them. this is how he describes his new profound love, which is a huge issue, because when you’re this dependent on someone, it becomes difficult to let go when they leave. he struggled to realize how he's wrong in saying that especially in his past relationships. theodore clearly lacks with multiple things such as not being able to commit to what he wants, and even not being able to let go which is why he struggled so hard in his marriage, and even during the divorce process. ironically the only thing that is so full of life to theodore is not human, and basically helped him realize what he wants. not some perfect person, but someone who cares for you in both challenging you uncomfortably, and supporting you while doing so. the conversations between theodore and samantha are sooo good and i’d highkey fall in love too if i talked about life like that with someone in the way they did ALTHOUGH they portray love really well.. they also have the bad but mostly weird parts.... this movie had so many unpredictable moments where i've felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable at times from the main character, and even WITH the character. he is his own enemy. he's preventing himself from growing, and it's all due to his insecure livelihood where it's hard to feel sorry for him.. but it's hard to not feel bad for him because he is the one and only joaquin pheonix (JOKER!!) this guy can not catch a break.. the ending to me was satisfying, even if it felt slightly rushed, it works. im glad they spent a lot of time with these long shots of the views, and random strangers. so many beautiful shots of everyday life, alongside the music that genuinely gives me chills on my neck of nostalgia.. i wish this fictional character the best from now on, what a cute ending

“I really don't feel comfortable hitting a girl.” im ngl this movie is stuck between trying to be a comedy, but also be serious.. the jokes in here freaking blow it reminds me of washed up uncle humor where you do those small giggles but it’s not serious humor was hard to get by… but yknow… the movie was cool, seeing stuff i saw from playing the games, they did my boy johnny cage wrong highkey but its fine.. jax was aura.. the villains were made goofy.. leave that stuff to street fighter man ur not watching for something serious or life changing, ur just watching for the cool fighting and effects, and scorpion saying get over here

“sometimes spiderman has to do the hard thing, even if it breaks peter parker’s heart” the director and music coordinator knew what they were doing at the end of the movie playing steve lacy after all that just happened.. idk if it’s the fact im getting older or these spider man movies are hitting harder but i find myself easily getting teary eyed with lips quivering when it comes to new movies, it felt like synesthesia at the end where my eyes were watery and with every lyric, electric guitar, and synthesizer was painting a moving image in my mind with heavy colors of blue pulsating with every sound to see spider-man see his love loving someone else, and to be acknowledged but not chosen was so hard but he remains holding his responsibility and charisma to push through and this is the reason why i love superhero movies spiderman might be the goto choice of top three superheroes of all time, he’s just so human and relatable you can’t really hate him.. it’s so iconic seeing him sling around new york city putting others overs himself no one can convince me that there is superhero fatigue, people who say that are losing their inner child without a doubt because how can you not smile seeing the punisher and spider-man interact especially with the hulk too it’s just so awesome.. DONT GET ME STARTED ON YELENA I FREAKING LOVE THUNDERBOLTS.. like every interaction has you smiling… although they made frank and yelena a comedic relief character i liked how they did it, they didn’t change who they both were, and more specifically with punisher they showed that he’s trying his best just like everyone else including someone super like spiderman and just like everyone else we make these mistakes but it takes real responsibility to acknowledge it and own up to it and do better if i was spiderman and had all this going down from health issues, having to save the world, seeing loved ones move on… i would’ve not shot that last web and fell to the floor from the rooftop… maybe that’s just me exaggerating but peter freaking parker is the goat excited for more to come i hope the next movie is a live action miles, and tom holland or any other spider-man is his mentor because it’ll be hard to live up to the three goats and specifically after this banger of a movie I LOVE YOU STAN LEE
