Still Walking
“-They say yellow butterflies like that are white ones that survive the winter and come back yellow the next year. -Really? Who told you?-I wonder who…”
My mom would always point out every yellow butterfly when I was younger and say that it is my little brother watching over us. Even now, everytime I see a yellow butterfly I think of him. The people we lose will always be a part of us, and maybe even visit us in the form of a yellow butterfly.
Kore-Eda was able to tap into such a personal memory in such a personal way that it felt like I was watching my own mother at times. I can’t describe how much I loved this and how much I want to thank him for making it.
