Die Hard

🔥 5th Watch | Top 100 | Christmas Ranked In case this wasn't compelling enough evidence, if Home Alone is considered a Christmas movie, why is there debate over Die Hard's legitimacy as a Christmas movie? Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie because there is no Santa. Where's Santa in Home Alone? Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie because there are no reindeer. Where are the reindeer in Home Alone? Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie because it's too violent You're telling me Harry and Marv didn't basically die twenty times over? Is that not violent? I actually struggle to see where people get the idea that Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie. There are two possible realms of thought. First, if Die Hard is an action movie, it can't be a Christmas movie. This type of thinking is illogical, as it suggests that movies are incapable of crossing multiple genres, which just isn't true. The other line of reasoning is that Die Hard's maturity makes it not a Christmas movie, as Christmas is a holiday directed more towards younger children. This would explain why Home Alone is considered a Christmas movie, as it is more accessible to younger audiences. However, how does the maturity of a movie dictate how much of a "Christmas movie" it is? It's a Wonderful Life deals with suicide and barely any of the plot revolves around the Christmas setting, and yet there are no debates about that film being a Christmas movie or not. I get that this is more of a meme than a true debate, but there are seriously people out there who believe Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie, and it's baffling to me. But anyhow, regardless of whether it's a Christmas or not (though it is...), Die Hard is still an exceptional movie on all fronts. The cinematography, the writing, the acting... Everything is perfected, and it is infuriating that action movies—especially nowadays— don't even attempt to label Die Hard as the golden standard for action films. Even the music, which I find so rarely talked about in the case of Die Hard, is pure bliss. It's energy, flow, and melodies, is exceptional, making it the driving force for many scenes. Die Hard is, without a doubt, a masterpiece of cinema, and that's a word that should not be used lightly. ⬅️ Previous Review: Real Genius
